Judy currently works for the City of Ottawa in Community and Protective Services, Employment and Financial Assistance, in the administrative area.
Formerly with Laurentian Bank of Canada and the Government of Canada in the Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages, Judy is bilingual with strong communication skills. She has considerable volunteer experience in hockey, United Way, the MDS Nordion 10km Run and the Jeux de la Francophonie.
Judy was involved with the 2001 Jeux de la Francophonie from the perspective of the University of Ottawa, responsible for the accommodations and lodgings and meals for athletes who stayed there.

Doug is recently retired from the federal government where he was a senior financial analyst with Western Economic Diversification Canada and before that Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Human Resources Development Canada and Fitness and Amateur Sport.
Doug is a former national team distance runner who represented Canada internationally for 5 years after completing his university education at Ohio State University on an athletic scholarship. Doug has been involved in volunteer activities throughout his life, with 11 years experience with the National Capital Marathon (which he won as a runner as well as being Race Director and on the board.) Doug is current treasurer of the Ottawa Sports Awards.
Ably suited for two portfolios, Doug who will also Co-Direct the Sport Technical area, also spent 11 years as a Sport Canada consultant managing a number of n.s.o. portfolios.

Marco currently works for the city of Ottawa as a senior project manager, Life Cycle Renewal and before that as an engineer with Central Precast, Nicolini Construction and Engineering and Koch Engineering Company.
Marco is returning from the 2006 Games where he was the Director of the Athlete’s Village, one of the most difficult and one of the most successfully managed portfolios, of the 2006 Games. A strong team leader, Marco is a welcome returnee!
In addition to the Ontario Summer Games, Marco is also a volunteer with United Way, the Shepherds of Good Hope and at a community co-op school.

Julie is currently the Assistant Director, Communications and Marketing for the University of Ottawa Sports Services, a position she has held since 2007. Prior to working with the University of Ottawa,Julie worked as Director, Communications for the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) for seven years, and as a public relations and education coordinator for the Bermuda Council for Drug Free Sport.
One of Julie’s responsibilities at CAC was to coordinate the Petro-Canada Sport Leadership Sportif Conference, which will be useful experience in her capacity as Co-Director of Hospitality and Protocol.
Julie’s previous employment has always been in the area of sport event management including UBC’s Department of Athletics and Recreation and the Pacific Dolphin Swim Association.

Leo is President and C.E.O. of iFathom Corporation, one of Ottawa’s high tech companies specializing in the development of complete Enterprise Solutions utilizing the best of breed technologies.
IFathom provides complete IM/IT professional services covering the full life cycle of business and IM/IT projects. Leo is well respected in the high tech community for his more than 15 years providing consulting services. Leo’s experience ps work for various government departments and global private corporations under the banners of iFathom and SCISS, which he co-founded in 1991.
Leo is returning from the 2006 Ontario Summer Games where his company created the software that provided the Games with an I.T. accreditation and registration solution. iFathom also created and managed the 2006 Games web site.
A former national champion football player with Myer’s Riders and current captain of one of the most successful men’s slo-pitch teams in Ottawa, Leo is a welcome returnee from the 2006 Ontario Summer Games.

Cara is a Project Coordinator with the Conference Board of Canada. She has extensive experience in project planning, budgeting, marketing and executing large national-scale projects.
In her former job with the Canadian Automobile Association, Cara was responsible for planning, managing and organizing two major conferences as well as many smaller ones.
In her spare time, Cara is a Brownie Guider with Girl Guides of Canada.

Kelly-Ann Hodgins
Kelly-Ann currently works for the Canada Games Council as the Manager of Sport. Her professional responsibilities include managing sport technical, venue, and logistical requirements for 37 sports on the summer and winter program with up to three Canada Games host societies at any one time.
As a volunteer, Kelly-Ann has offered her time and dedication to the Ottawa Irish Rugby Club, Twin Elm Rugby Park, Eastern Ontario Rugby Referee Society, various international rugby matches at Twin Elm Rugby Park, and most notably, the 2006 Ontario Summer Games as Sport Chair for rugby and Venue Manager of Twin Elm Rugby Park. Kelly-Ann has also been named as mission staff for Team Canada for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China.

Corey is currently a Sport Business Management student at Algonquin College. His 2008 Ontario Summer Games role is mainly, but not limited to - managing and finalizing agreements with private facilities that are required for the event.
Knowledgeable of all sports, Corey has been involved in various leagues throughout Ottawa and is excited to give back to the local sports community by contributing his time and effort towards the development of a Summer Games that the city can be proud of.

Carrie currently works as a consultant for Interplay Creative Media and spends much of her free time volunteering for local organizations. Over the past two years, she worked in as a volunteer for the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), the FIFA U20 World Cup, Volleyball Canada, Canadian Interuniversity Sport, and many local charity golf tournaments.
Carrie is a former provincial hockey champion who represented Canada in friendly tournaments in Europe as a teenager. Her love of sport has stayed with her into adulthood and she continues to play numerous sports throughout the year with a special interest in soccer.
As a media relations specialist and athlete, Carrie has a strong background in both areas. Her commitment will prove beneficial to the Ontario Summer Games in many ways.

Michael moved to Ottawa in June, 2006, from Montreal, retiring from the International Air Transport Association (I.A.T.A.) after 21 years as a Senior Manager with the company. Recognised as an expert in the development of international industry standards while working for I.A.T.A., Michael comes to the 2008 G.O.C. with strong leadership and motivational skills.
Since Michael is a graduate of Carnegie College/Carnegie School of Physical Education and taught physical education for six years, he will Co-Direct the Sport Technical portfolio. His considerable experience in the preparation and presentation of both formal and informal presentations to prospective clients in the airline industry, Michael will be very helpful with the many contract meetings required with the provincial sport organizations involved in the 2008 Games.

Theresa presently works for the city of Ottawa, Transit Service/OC Transpo Transit Operations, in the Administrative Support area.
A high energy, enthusiastic team player, Theresa is well suited to Co-Direct the Special Events area since she has organized and overseen such special events as the OC Transpo Annual Transecure Awards Ceremony, the 150th Anniversary of Shawville Quebec, a number of special events in Shawville including a formal ball, the July 1st parade and has helped organize and has worked at a number of golf tournaments, card parties and other events benefiting the Heart Institute of Ottawa and C.H.E.O.
Theresa has also worked on committees for the Santa Claus Parade, Veteran’s Day Parade, OC Transpo Food Drive for the local shelters and has helped prepare and serve monthly dinners to senior citizens.
With a strong interest in the Special Events portfolio, Theresa is a welcome addition to the 2008 G.O.C.

Miles is our Athlete Representative on the 2008 Ontario Summer Games G.O.C. Miles is a provincial bronze medallist in the shot put and has competed in three provincial track and field championships and the 2006 national championships (in the hammer throw.) Miles was a five-year varsity track and field athlete at Queen’s University through 2005 during which time he completed a BA (Economics) and an honours B.Sc. (Mathematics & Applied Statistics.) He then moved to Toronto and completed his M.A. at York University, before moving to Ottawa.
Miles is currently accepted to work on a Master’s degree (Human Kinetics & Sport Administration) at the University of Ottawa which began
in the fall of 2007. In the meantime, he is working as an

Amanda currently works as a Senior Policy Analyst with the federal government, primarily in the health sector. She has been working with the federal government for the past three years, mostly in pharmaceutical policy.
Amanda completed her BAH in Health Studies and Psychology in 2003, followed by a Master’s degree in Public Administration in 2004, both at Queen’s University in Kingston. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for a local women’s shelter, and is an active member of their community relations and fundraising committee.
While Amanda has not been involved in previous Games, she is looking forward to the challenge!

Britany currently works for the Coaching Association of Canada as Communications Assistant.
Britany is a relatively recent graduate from Acadia University with her Bachelor of Kinesiology degree (2005) and following that completion of her Graduate Certificate in the Sport Business Management program at Algonquin College (2006).
Britany is a former basketball and rowing coach (Orillia Rowing Club), who was the Assistant Venue Manager of Venue Operations at the 2006 Ontario Summer Games. In this capacity, Britany created a Manual for Venue Operations that was used for each of the thirty-five venues used for the 2006 Games and will be reused for the 2008 Games.
Britany “trained the trainers” for the 2006 Games, training and coordinating the thirty-five volunteer venue leaders and numerous other venue volunteers. She is a valued returnee who brings considerable experience to the Volunteer portfolio for the 2008 G.O.C.

Melodee has her Developmental Service Worker Diploma and a degree in Psychology and has spent over 17 years as a support worker, staff coordinator and residential counsellor for the Cornerstone Women’s Shelter, Interval House of Ottawa, Ottawa Carleton Lifeskills, Cumberland Home Support and Harmer House, the Anxiety Disorders Association of Ontario and the Robert Smart Centre.
Throughout these experiences, Melodee has been involved often times as the volunteer coordinator – screening, training and employing volunteers. Personally she has volunteered for the Nokia Brier, the DuMaurier Golf Classic and was a volunteer coordinator for the Grey Cup.
Melodee has an understandably keen interest to be involved in Co-Directing the Volunteer portfolio.

Damien, or rather Sargeant Damien Coakeley, is with the Ottawa Police Service, West Division Patrol, in his twenty-sixth year of police service. Damien has experience and expertise in the area of Games security, one of the major components of the Logistics portfolio that he will co-direct. In this day and age of security related issues at major Games, Damien comes fully qualified, with previous security experience at the 1996 Olympic summer Games in Atlanta, Georgia and the 2002 Olympic winter Games in Salt Lake City, Utah.
In addition to his Co-Director responsibilities with the 2008 Ontario Summer Games, Damien has also been elected as Co-Chair of the Games Organizing Committee.
